The only region of Ukraine where climate is warm enough (USDA zone 8a and above) that palms can grow without any extra attention like a wild species is the southern coast of Crimea. It is observed only in extreme southern part of the seacoast from Balaklava to approximately suburbs of Alushta.
- Palms in Yalta
Palms are not native to Yalta neither to any part of Ukraine, even though it is very common to see such plants in and around Yalta today.
Any part of this region does not exceed USDA Zone 9 which results in a limited variety of species.
- Palms in Alushta
- Palms in Nikitsky Botanical Garden
For now I will give just an overview of the species:
Livistona chinensis (not common to Crimean seacoast):Butia (probably Butia Odorata and Butia Eriospatha):
- Palms in Balaklava
